In these bonkers times when drama never seems to end, what a cracking video of a gang of people pulling together for no other reason than to help someone out Absolutely first class 👍
Great job on that fish pond, John the dad must be so pleased with the outcome. I wondered what was happening with that fish with its mouth so far outside the water after they were put in, I am curious if that’s the one that died.how come you guys did not place back the bog, is the bog just plants? I love the pond , the fish are lovely and look happy in it. Great job guys I enjoyed this video!
Hi thanks for the coment John is made up with the pond always sat by it. I think the fish your on about is the sturgeon it was just looking for food it's always like that he still has that fish 👍 we removed the bog for John to make the pond easier for him to maintain
Watched so many sleeper pond builds in readiness to build my own, but none have brought a tear to my eye like you have, full respect to you mate and all involved 👍
What a great video - thank you for taking time to film and share this! It is not something that is seen too often (if ever) - the tear down/rebuild of an aged pond - wish i would have seen it before i built mine. Y'all have a heart of gold, hope all of your backs are doing well, and best wishes for Kathy and Big John. I know the fish are high-finning it!! (i think 'cracking job' is going to be my new buzz word here in western North Carolina!- love it!!!!!)
It's comments like this that make it worth it and sets you up for a good day I'll pass this to the lads and John's family. Thank you it's much appreciated and I'm sure you've done a cracking job on your pond 😊
Hi only just seen your film cos i'm looking to rebuild mine a as a sleeper pond. mine won't just have the same meaning as what you guys have taken on, what a fantastic gesture for Big John hopefully this adds to his recovery rate!! WELL DONE & Best regardsb to ALL Mick F North Yorks
Did you do anything with the back wall before you lined it? I think I’d have boarded it and backfilled it with something to make it flush. Did the liner not just balloon out in to the void under the weight of water?
Loved the video, I have just done the same thing this spring to my pond and added sleepers. I did it myself because I couldn't afford to get it done but its just like yours, it makes you proud to do something yourself, really enjoyed the video, wish I had filmed my build. Look forward to updates on it as it matures 👍
Please tell me you used aquasafe or similar before putting those poor fish in?! Yes you added the old pond water later which will help but it looked like you initially put them straight into tap water which will burn their gills.
Just seen this.what a great bunch of people.respect to you all.i'm in the middle of building a new pond for my fish, but sadly today I have lost 4 of my oldest and biggest fish.not sure why but very sad that they will not get to swim in there new bigger pond.good luck to you all in the future.
Sorry to hear about your loss it's not nice loosing fish as it always seems to be the biggest and best ones. Hopefully the rest will enjoy there new pond and so do you. Thanks for your kind words and all the best with your new pond 👍
great work lads really great work for a novice build one thing cover the exsposed liner it will suffer sun frost and last a coupe of years covered it will last twenty at least and looks better to see no liner but great work i hope he loves the new pond and it last another 40 yrs
Nice job but i didnt see them backfill the void where the tree stump was now the water will push the liner out in that spot hope it doesnt affect the liner
I wish somebody would help me like these guys helped. I’ve been in my house 4 years and not one person has knocked on my door to welcome me or offer help while I was going through chemo. This gives me faith in humanity just not where I live.
Sorry to hear that Sarah. Unfortunately we now live in a world we're everyone looks out for them self's. It's not like the old days we're everyone used to look out for each other you could leave your doors unlocked and not worry it's a shame really people need help but are scared to ask.
Not our year this year mate unfortunately 😞 spoke to a few ppl and they think it's the male I used 1st time donator but the way I went about it was spot on
Never staple the inside of the fabric or liner more chance of a leak you guys should have double lined the pool liner or built it out of concrete much stronger and will last forever when done correctly.
Peter it is mate small world i grew up with the lad went to nursery together school best mate he was my best man at my wedding his family are my family

Ha ha yeah a mad mix of fish in there. And thank you appreciate the comment 👍
Did you do anything with the back wall before you lined it? I think I’d have boarded it and backfilled it with something to make it flush. Did the liner not just balloon out in to the void under the weight of water?
Yeah we sorted it mate no problems with that

Please tell me you used aquasafe or similar before putting those poor fish in?!
Yes you added the old pond water later which will help but it looked like you initially put them straight into tap water which will burn their gills.
Yes we did it's nearly 1year on and all the fish are doing well
@@scotthendersonKoiAndHawks lovely job considering it's your first pond build.
Fantastic to see good people coming together.
Wow- that is quite a variety of fish in one pond. Look healthy though. Credit to the owner.

@@scotthendersonKoiAndHawks?🤣🤣🤣🤣 fecking brilliant Scott buddy🧁👍👍👍
That was a really nice job
Thank you 👍
Wow, that's one hell of an advert for how good a bog filter is
🤣 definitely was a shame to take it out
I would so love to have a pond like that‼️ you should however make a water fall with rocks
What's stopping you ? If you have space it's doable 👍 They added a bakki shower wich is similar to a water fall
Water looks good
Thank you 😊
Looking good ,What size and depths is it
Not too sure of sizes think it turned out about 5/6000 liters
Wonder how long the fish will last without any cover
Nice job but i didnt see them backfill the void where the tree stump was now the water will push the liner out in that spot hope it doesnt affect the liner
Thank you we didn't back fill the hole we put some beems under the sleepers and attached a board to it
Boss job mate well done, Dean said you didn't stop grafting for 2 days 👍
Cheers Danny shame your over in north Wales now could of would of come n helped you for a few days 👍
@@scotthendersonKoiAndHawks ino mate I would of like to of come and helped at but got enough ponds to keep me busy haha. No worries it a fair distance
This is a very good video on what not to do.
What shouldn't we have done
Great job except for you not putting sand down before the liner!
Thank you thanks for the info on sand if we do one again I'll keep that in mind 👍

How is the bird breeding coming on mate ?
Not our year this year mate unfortunately 😞 spoke to a few ppl and they think it's the male I used 1st time donator but the way I went about it was spot on
Do you live where it’s stays somewhat warm in the winter
Not really we are in uk it's cold pretty much most of the time
Can you tell me the name of the plants you used please.
Hi I'm think it was water iris not 100% tho
Never staple the inside of the fabric or liner more chance of a leak you guys should have double lined the pool liner or built it out of concrete much stronger and will last forever when done correctly.
Thanks for the info 👍
I’ve never heard of staples in a waterproof liner? Surely it will cause a weakness and tear thus leaking? Or am I stupid.
We only staple the under lay the actual liner is just placed in the pond and water holds that in place 👍
The pond looks fine but you did a lot of the stuff wrong but well done
Always one tit isnt there
What Did We do wrong
Missed the opportunity to add bottom drain
Definitely but he wanted it done quick and didn't really want to spend any more cash
Shame you couldn't keep the bog. It kept that pond going for years.
Definitely agree it did a belting job but they needed something abit more manageable
Could the medal screws and brackets work through the liner eventually ? Causing a leak?
I don't thinks that would work as you'd be putting holes in the liner the it will more than likely leak
Shame the Bog was taken out as it was doing a fantastic job by the looks of it
The bog was definitely doing a good job
Gallon ?
Roughly 1320 gallon mate 6000 liters
Is that true you and Dean new the same man without knowing
Peter it is mate small world i grew up with the lad went to nursery together school best mate he was my best man at my wedding his family are my family
Very ture mate
what language do you speak?
English
The original was deffo more than 2-3000 litres
Think it measured at 4000 liters after all the guessing. And 5000 liters after
@@scotthendersonKoiAndHawks looks about right ✅️
